In 2020, William Graham approached local historian Piper Brewer about writing a story on Owosso history for The Argus-Press, offering to underwrite the project.
What began as a single story became the newspaper column A Step Back In Time—which continues over five years later, chronicling the buildings, businesses, and people who shaped Owosso.
Brewer work draws on family connections stretching back generations—including ancestor Ezekiel Salisbury (builder of the Salisbury Opera House) and grandfather Eugene S. Brewer (owner of the Strand Theatre).
Brewer has also authored a book on Owosso history, now in its second printing, available at local venues including the Shiawassee Arts Center.
