The Amos Gould House: A Tower and a Transformation

Era: 1860-Present
Location: 100 West Oliver Street

The Amos Gould House originally featured a tower in the middle of the roof when it was built in 1860.

The tower remained at least for a while after the house was transformed in 1873 from a hip roof to a mansard roof.

The house at 100 West Oliver Street served for decades as a center of Owosso civic life, hosting the Owosso Historical Commission and welcoming school groups on tours.

In recent years, the city sold the property. The home was purchased by a historian and preservationist family who has spent the past year repairing and restoring the house to its original grandeur while upgrading electrical systems to safe standards—ensuring this 1860 landmark continues to serve the community for generations to come.
