The Center Theater: Movies for a Quarter

Era: Mid-1900s
Location: Near current Gilbert True Value

The Center Theater once occupied a space near where Gilbert True Value stands today, offering affordable entertainment to Owosso families.

For just 25 cents, patrons enjoyed a newsreel bringing world events to small-town Michigan, a cartoon for laughs, and the feature movie.

The theater was eventually torn down—some of its wood salvaged by a local resident who used the materials to build a motel on Highway 27, just north of M-57.
