The Shiawassee Arts Center was co-founded by Dolly Woodard and Ann Moore and has been educating, entertaining, and enriching the quality of life in the community for over 52 years.
In September 1984, Piper Brewer joined SAC as a volunteer and board member, later becoming director. Dolly Woodard served as mentor and friend.
Recent initiatives include the Up-Cycle Art in the Park event, featuring sculptures made from recycled materials found in the Shiawassee River, and the installation of eight Curwood murals on the building next door—six based on James Oliver Curwood book covers.
SAC continues to partner with organizations like the Owosso Historical Commission, the Curwood Festival, and the Cook Family Foundation to celebrate and preserve Owosso cultural heritage.
